Today Ascendis Pharma has successfully launched its first innovative product in the US and Germany, and is on the brink of further, rapid expansion in Europe. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to successful launches of the endocrinology pipeline and contribute significantly to the Commercial expansion.

 

THE ROLE

Position summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the external facing scientific expert in Medical Affairs at Ascendis Pharma that communicates confidently about the products using clinical and scientific expertise. The MSL is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and educating all healthcare providers about the disease states and products in the Ascendis Pharma pipeline.

The position is field based and reports to the Medical Affairs Director, Nordics. Estimated travel ~50%. You can be located anywhere in Sweden.


Key responsibilities

-Serve as the field-based external medical representative of Medical Affairs.

 

-Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma within the endocrinology community, communicating the potential of TransCon technology for rare endocrinological diseases.

 

-Maintain a high level of medical expertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and relevant disease states (e.g., bone and growth).

 

-Provide medical/scientific presentations to internal and external audiences.

 

-Represent Ascendis Pharma at national and international medical congresses, assist with communications, and report insights internally.

 

-Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), institutional networks, and reference and competence centers in rare endocrinological diseases and other medical areas.

 

-Develop and maintain a KOL engagement plan, presenting scientific and medical information to healthcare professionals through meetings and conferences.

 

-Identify scientific needs of healthcare providers, researchers, and patient.

 

-Plan and execute local and Nordic advisory boards, medical projects, and non-promotional external activities independently.

 

-Capture and communicate external insights about the disease state, Ascendis portfolio and pipeline, and competitors to internal stakeholders.

 

-Build strong relationships and collaborate with internal colleagues (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, and Sales) by providing medical expertise.

 

-Collaborate with Medical/Scientific functions such as HEOR and Clinical Development to support regional deliverables.

 

-Participate in the development and implementation of the Field Medical Team’s strategic goals and objectives.

 

-Engage with external researchers for investigator-initiated studies (IISs) and support clinical trial operations.

 

-Document all relevant activities in the CRM platform and report pharmacovigilance cases promptly.

 

-Adhere to Ascendis Pharma’s compliance and corporate policies and procedures.

 

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENT AND ABILITIES

-Minimum 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as an MSL (or similar role) with minimum a master’s degree in Health Science field (PhD is preferred, but not required).

 

-Pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology or rare disease experience is an advantage.

 

-Strong oral and written communication skills with a strong capability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information.

 

-Ability to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule.

 

-Fluent in a Nordic language and English, both written and verbal.
